theatlasroom:

Part II from the second side of my upcoming split 10” vinyl with melbourne based musician “From Trees”.

This has been an exciting project, getting to work alongside a close friend and musician I respect, pushing each other to create something new.

Mastered by (the amazing) Lawrence English @ 158
Additional Vocals performed by “From Trees”

I recently purchased a (Cosina) Voigtlander Bessa R rangefinder and have been using it with a Jupiter 8 50mm f/2 lens. Im loving the portability, simplicity and speed of this setup and most definately the surprising quality it produces. This was shot while i was setting up for a show in november 2012 with Kate martin at the workers club, melbourne.

I haven’t posted much of anything for the last few months, I have been super busy with more important/interesting things to do than trawl through pages of meaningless dribble. More-so, im struggling to justify my existence on this consumption-ridden platform.
Social platforms have a place for sure, but im learning more and more that they have a tendency to hinder any form of progressive creativity and destroy any dreams of sustained productivity.
While I sip my tea and debate whether or not micro-blogging is for me, here is an image that summarises my 2011.
Im starting to hate flying.

Recent adventures

An horse @ northcote social club:

An enjoyable night, not the greatest gig but just enough to keep me interested. Their set could do with a bit of variety though…

Collarbones @ northcote social club

ACE, not as fun as the first time I saw them but equally as brilliant, less inside jokes and awkward banter next time though, please.

Ghoul @ northcote social club

Alot more interesting and a much better performance than last time I saw them at OAF, dreambeat is still a terrible song though and I would love to see more ‘a mouthful of gold’ in the set than just swimming pool.

Leader Cheetah @ the corner hotel

Maybe I just wasnt in the mood? One of the most uninteresting sets I’ve watched in a few years. I swear they weren’t that boring last time i saw them.

The Middle East @ the corner hotel

To be brutally honest? mediocre, monotonic set. None of the energy of the middle east circa ‘06/07.

note: Im not a supremely educated music critic, I just know what I do and don’t like.
